This is a problem similar to Jason F, where after the first restart of installation, it freezes on the blue screen with "Windows is Starting up" message at the bottom.
I have the following computer specs:
AMD Athlon 1.2GHZ
VIA Chipset
256MB DDR 2100 RAM (1 stick)
GeForce 2 MX 400
40 GB IBM Hard Drive
30 GB Seagate Hard DriveBecause i don't have two RAM sticks, i cannot take one out and use the other one, but i am considering to buy another RAM stick to test your suggestion, as it is the only solution i haven't tried.
Is it really because of the RAM sticks that is causing Windows XP to fail during installation? Please reply. :)

ge force 2 mx 400 can cause this issue, try a different video card during the install, particularly amd board and this card.
will work fine once install is complete

I have the same problem, and I switched my Geforce 2 MX with a Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4200. Still the same problem. I'm so frustrated.
