I have been having a problem with my Mouse . I have 450Mhz comp with win98/win xp dual boot system , serial Logitech Pilot mouse .... win 98 is working fine but when i start XP the startup screen with the Windows Logo appears and then then screen turns blank and freezes. If while XP is starting I move the mouse about and keep clicking the buttons the system starts fine and the mouse works fine in Win xp. Xp loads normaly in the safe mode but mouse does not work
i would try getting a usb or ps/2 mouse. i'm guessing it freezes because it can't find the mouse...but by keeping it active on the serial port, it allows XP to find it. That's just my guess though...has it always been like that?
I have tried a new serial mouse and even tried switching ports but it does not help . If the mouse is not connected to the system the system boots normally . please help as my motherboard doesn't have a ps2 port
