I recently installed Windows XP Pro and it just freezes everytime at start-up. I could boot it under safe-mode.
Something that i have noticed however, it would start-up with no probs if i would restart from safe-mode.
**it freezes on the part where you would see the xp logo on a black background with a bar below it ( the moving thingy under it )**thanks for any help. =)

Occassionally get this problem too all of a sudden. Applications also noticeably long to come up now. Any clues please respond here. Thanks.

Just to let u all know how i work around it.
1st i try a restore point.
Sometimes it works..2nd i try deactivating my ACPI on Bard Bios
Sometimes it works..3rd i try unsinstalling latest software installed
Sometimes it works..As i say, it means sometimes it doesn't works
which makes a boot take up to 1 hour...Incredible!!!!..
Hope it helps u

try this:
Computer Seems to Stop Responding Before the Desktop Is Displayed
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q320560

if you press F8 during startup, you can select boot logging mode, which will show on the screen each file as it is loaded....
from this, you can tell which file and hopefully which driver is causing the problems......
I'de be interested to know from all of you, what hardware you have..... wonder if it is the same thing causing the problems with each of you....

My hardware:
Intel PIV 2,0GHz
Intel D850MV MB
512MB DDR RAM
GeForce2ti 128MB DDR
IBM HD 7200RPM 80GB
HP 24X CD Reader
Plextor 40/12/40 CD WRITER
Pinnacle Miro Studio PC TV Board
Adaptec AHA-2940 SCSI controler
3COM network Board
think its all...CU

my hardware:
PIII 500MHz
64MB RAM ( I know its low, but it works fine on my friends PC =) )
don't know the M.Board, but i think its VIA
S3 Trio 3d/2x ( got some conflict here, but got it resolved after looking for a driver )
ASUS 16x10x40x****
by the way, the only way i could use XP right now is by opening it up on safe mode, then restarting it normally. hassle!! but it works! hehe****
i noticed that by using the bootlogging mode, it could'nt finish loading the video driver. but i'm wondering as how was it able to load the driver everytime that i would just came from safe mode?? ( by the way, i tried to disable the device, but still the same prob )****
grrr!!!****
#$@@!!!*!#!!!!!!

No similar hardware.
Im just working with my laptop now, trying to boot my desktop PC.
Almost desperate with the problem...I am just wondering if it might be the video board. Incompatibility or something....
(already done more than 30 boots in all mods and no luck).
Il let u know the latest news..
:))
