... if the monitor goes blank how do you know it is also freezing?

... try go to control panel power options alter turn off monitor to "never".....alter anything else to suit!

mavis007, Maybe freezes is not the right word. But monitor is set not to shut down. And when the computer is idle, monitor goes blank, and won't recover. I think the computer is frozen because I can't get it to do anything, (keyboard, and mouse are dead) and lights on computer stay constant. I have to shut down manually, and restart it. Do you have any Ideas, I am getting desperate now. LAL.

... if the power options did'nt work @Response Number 1

... tap "F8" key @ boot-up select "safe mode" using arrow keys [press ENTER]

... once in safe mode click "no" on the "pop-up" that should guide you to system restore

... select a restore point by altering the restore calendar to a time when the pc was working fine.
