XP formating trouble

I am trying to format a friend of mines hard drive. He has win xp, and the only xp disk I own is an upgrade which is not usefull in this case. His floppy drive is on the fritz also making things even more fun. Any ideas gentlemen?

Download a 98SE bootdisk, make sure it has "format" and "fdisk" on it... and invest in a new floppy drive, theyre dirt cheap.

Thanks, i'll give it a try. Seeing how I have about a dozen floppy drives lying around that shouldnt be a problem. I was leary of replacing it due to the fact his has power, but it says theres nothing there when there definately is.

Hook up his drive as a slave on your machine.
Right click computer, select manage, and format away. You will be done in 10 mins. You can even do a hot swap if you scan for hardware changes in device manager. XP makes a great TS platform for HDs.
