Is it posible to clear the read only attribute on a folder in XP or is it always going to be there????? I read this message with much interest. I have just upgraded to xp and get really confused with folder permissions. When I uncheck a the Read Only folder (under folder properties) and click apply, all the files have their read only attribute removed GREAT!. However, when I look at the folder properites box again for the folder, read only is still shaded out. Is it posible to clear the read only attribute on a folder in XP or is it always going to be there????? thanks for any help Craig

While read only folders in XP are default you can still create files and write data to the folders; except for users over a network. Read on: Default Permissions for Shared Folders Is Read-Only Access for Everyone
