Went to Run command, typed CMD, got a DOS window. Now, I have 2 hard drives, and after trying Linux and going back to XP, they were renamed to F: and C:, instead of C: and D:. So, the prompt is F: instead of C:. Anyway, at F:, i typed 'fdisk' and it says something like invalid command or something along those lines? Am I missing something?

Ok, so I typed:
F:\FDISK F:, and got:
F:\FDISK is not recognized as an internal or external command etc.
What would happen if I just formatted the drive through My Computer? By right clicking on the drive and clicking format?

XP Pro doesn't have fdisk. It has a similar program called diskpart, but only if you installed the Recovery Console.

Right click on my computer/manage/disk management. You can format from there.

I'm not sure I have the Recovery Console, is it an update?
I see Computer Management ( Local ), but no disk management.
Also, under help, I searched for delete partition, and it gave me 2 choices, through a command line or through windows interface, but clicking on the link didnt connect me anywhere :) Stupid computer.

If you realy need aquire a copy of fdisk then your best bet is to create a Win98 boot disk. Almost all Win98 boot disks come with a copy of fdisk.exe and format.exe
I don't think that fdisk will run on XP since it's a DOS program. You will there for need boot from the floppy and run it in DOS.

Search in windows help for recovery console and you will find all the answers. You can install it by running this command after inserting windows xp cd x:\i386\winnt32 cmdcons
where x: is the letter of your cdrom drive. Check help to be doubly sure.
