Problem: User 2 cannot access shared folder on second domain.
Given:
XP computer is on domain A
XP computer has fixed IP
Domain A uses a Win 2K server with service pack 3
Domain A also has a Win 2K backup server, service pack 2
Domain B is a remote domain with shares
Domain B has a Unix server.
User 2 has roaming profile
User 1 doesn’t have roaming profile.
Symptoms:
o User 1 logged in to domain A can access shared folder on domain B after entering user and password in login window.
o User 2 logged in to domain A can access domain B, but gets error message when accessing shared folder in domain B. The error message appears in place of what should be a login window.
o Message is as follows: \\DomainB is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. The user name could not be found.
o User 2’s roaming profile was deleted and re-instated. No change.
o Caching in user 2’s roaming profile is not enabled.
Note on user 3:
o User 3 normally uses a Win 2k workstation.
o User 3 has no problem getting into shared folder on domain B
o User 3 also has roaming profile.
o When user 3 roams (logs into XP computer) then user 3 cannot get into shared folder on domain B.
User 1 and Administrator can get into shared folder on domain B from any workstation, including XP workstations.

You say domain B is a running Unix. Are you using Samba to allow the windows boxes to access it?
If you're using samba, check the security level on your shares. Is it set to User or Share?
If it's set to User, you should make sure the user exists as a samba user:
smbpasswd -a user 2
Also, are you sure your Unix server and Windows server has the same password set for User 2?
.....and is User 2 set up as user on the Unix box?
