Older Windows 95 compatible programs can SOMETIMES run under compatibility (right click on program, click on compatibility tab, and select run as windows 95). If this works, you are Ok, if it does not, you are out of luck. Older programs sometimes try to reserve or lock a section of memory space, or use system resources in a way that XP cannot allow for security or stability reasons. Many old programs need to be allowed to die, find something newer to replace it with.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
If all else fails, read instructions.
