M$ put pressure on manufacturers to NOT develop XP drivers for new hardware. In effect, they're forcing people who buy new systems with Vista pre-installed to stick with it. Where are you coming up with the audio info? I took a quick look at the Toshiba site & it appears you have Conexant Audio.

jam, I think the Intel number is a rebranded Conexant Cx20549.
HP does have WinXP drivers listed for that chip. Weather or not they will work or not I can't say. Link below.

Stating it didn't work is not very helpful. Is there any type of listing for that hardware in Device manager? If so, what is the current status of the hardware?

So, how are you trying to install the drivers?
Try removing the listing with the yellow punctuation mark. Then without rebooting run one of the driver exe files you have downloaded.
you should be able to get some functionality from one of the drivers. May not be the same as when you had Vista but should work.
