Alrighty, just put together my computer. Trying to install XP, the BIOS detects the CD drive and the IDE hard drave fine. Upon booting from the xp cd, the the says it can't detect the hard drive. What do I do? I've got the XP boot disk and 6 startup disks, but they don't seem to be helping much. What can I do?

I run fdisk, but it keeps restarting. Is it supposed to do that? Or am I doing something wrong?

No, it's not supposed to do that. Go to the hard disk's manufacturer's web site to get a disk utility program to diagnose, format, or patition your hd. For example, if your hd is a Maxtor one, then you should get Maxblast.exe program. The disk utility program is extremely useful. Hope this helps. Bye
