With a primary partition of 10.gig I updated XP to SP2, now when I try to defrag the drive I get an error message"Due to reserve system space not enough space, but it does allow me to defrag.
OK guys can I resize the primary and how , or do I have to delete som dulpicated files of SP2 taking up the room?
Thanks

Just Curious :What is the Real Size of all your HDD ?
Please keep in mind that Resizing and moving partitions is not without risks
and there is always a chance that data loss may occur.
I strongly advise you to make a backup of any important
data to
a safe location B4 you do anything With your HDD Partition
Ps:I think Partition Magic will do what you are looking for ,But If you do not have a Big HDD then you are in deep trouble...
Bon Courage.

The easiest thing to do is delete the backup files that SP2 upgrade creates (if you are sure that you want to stick with SP2 and not revert back). But if you are pinched for room now, then I suspect it will again be an issue sometime in the future.

It is possible to resize the partition safely, of course you will have to shrink the size of one of your other partitions.

I would NOT use partition Magic... too many people write to this sight after using PM asking how to undo the MESS that it made.

I like to use BOOTitNG. It's a boot manager that comes with a reputable set of partition tools (including resize)

http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/

Follow the instruction on putting booitng onto a bootable disk.

Boot up with the disk, NG will ask to install to the HDD, answer no, you with then go into the maintenance mode.

Downsize one of your other partitions to create some empty space. Use the SLIDE feature to move that empty space next to the partition you want to increase, then resize the partiton in question. Pretty simple.
