Comment: Can someone please help me...Xp pro reboots on me without warning and when i check the event viewer this is the message i get: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000007f (0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). A full dump was not saved. The above number is the only one i get whenever it reboots...I've tried going into startup and recovery and unchecked automatically reboot but instead i get a blue screen with the same error. Can anyone please tell me where i can go to find out what this number represents: 0x1000007f (0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

Reply: (edit)Try doing this to find possible causes of your freezing. Rite clik My Computer and select "Manage". On the left, double clik "Event Viewer". Rite clik on "Application" and select "clear all events". Do the same thing with "Security" and "System". This will clear all the "Events". Restart your machine. Then, after it freezes, reboot, check the "Events" in the 3 places that you previously cleared. You should find some clues in there as to what happens when the machine locks up. If you rite clik on an event and go to properties, it gives you an explanation as to what happened. At least that's how I recall it works from my memory. Good luck. Let us know how you make out.

Reply: (edit)Disabling the “restart on system failure” feature may permit the exact cause to be isolated: Right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under “Startup & Recovery,” click Settings. Under “System Failure,” uncheck the box in front of “System reboot.”

Reply: (edit)My specs: ECS k7S5A/ AMD Athlon 1.4 G/GeForce 2 MX 400/ 256 MB DDR /Windows XP Professional I have almost the same system and my machine simply locks up. Without warning. I've had one issue or another ever since I installed my GeForce2 MX 400. And I still cannot install XP while this card is installed. -Jazhawk

Reply: (edit)I have the same problem with the following system: Abit KG7-lite, AMD Athlon 1700+, Asus Geforce 2 7700deluxe, 512MB DDR, Teles isdn adapter, Windows Xp Pro. My system randomly restarts when playing 3d games, and when I check event viewer I get this message: "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x1000007f (0x00000008, 0x80042000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)" I never had any stability problems with this system when using Windows Me. Roger

Reply: (edit)Same problem, during 3d games the system hangs randomly. Event log virtually empty but i am seeing these "EAPOL service was started succesfully" logs, i think these actually accompany each time the system boots up and are normal (its probably the event service starting) System: Asus K7V Motherboard w/ Via Chipset Athlon 750 GeForce2 GTS, have also tried with Gforce4 MX 440 - SAME PROBLEM. ** When i tried with Radion 7500 the problem did not occur, i tested for several hours! When i tried with my old Voodoo3 the problem did NOT occur, tried for several hours. Have applied all XP Patches/updates. Running latest detonator drivers, bios is at latest version - what mb's is everyone using? Just updated chipset with latest Via 4 in 1, problem still occurs... ARG!

Reply: (edit)Just as a little note: EAPOL stands for Extensible Authentication Protocol over LAN. I have a toshiba laptop (PIII 1.0, Trident cyberblade video) which still resets randomly even with autoreboot turned off. and yes it has EAPOL starting every time windows starts, with no other new messages in the log to show where the problem is.

Reply: (edit)Hi! My system was running perfect for months. Then suddenly every now and then my comp crashed... Hardware malfunction - call your hardware vendor for support! Now I bought a new HD installed XP and the problem still comes up every 30 secconds to 2 minutes. The EAPOL seems to be one of the causes, the other is "Warning" from the "event system" which says: "Das COM+-Ereignissystem konnte die ConnectionMade-Methode für das Abonnement {51220143-E567-4DFE-A600-A61A81CD3BA4}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}-{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000} nicht auslösen. Das vom Abonnenten zurückgegebene HRESULT war 80004001." sorry its german ;) Maybe anyone has any clue at all whats going on...

Reply: (edit)I am running XP Pro on a PIII 1000, 768MBytes Ram, QDI Mainboard, GeForce 2 GTS, SBLive Platinum and DSLW700 ADSL card. I have had no problem with my PC for months now whilst playing 3D games my sytem just Hangs the onlyt way out is to switch off, when I restart and check the event viewer the crashes always happen at the same time as the EAPOL service starts just after this I also get 2 warnings telling me that the Fax service was unable to complete an operation as there is no fax device configured. I have tried disabling the ADSL card as I thought it may be a Network fault but this had no effect does anyone know if you require this EAPol Service and if not how do you disable it? I hope someone out there can help me before I go crazy!
