OS: Windows XP Professional S
CPU/Ram: AMD Anthlon 800MHz 512MB
Product: Tiny UK
Comment:

I recently re-installed Windows XP to ger trd of some spyware on my system (formatted disk, then installed)

I have got it all running, except every time I insert a USB Device into my PC (like a pen drive or USB Mouse), windows will freeze on me and the only thing that I can do is restart the PC.

I have looked and looked over the net for a solution (no luck) and I need help!

This is a disaster for me!

The first thing I would try is going into Device Manager and uninstalling everything listed under Universal Serial Bus. When you reboot, Windows will automatically run the Found New Hardware Wizard and reinstall the drivers. See if that helps.

Try this also to further isolate the cause.

0. Right click My Computer, go to Properties

1. Go to the Advanced tab.

2. Under Startup and Recovery, uncheck automatically restart under system failure sub header, hit OK, Apply, OK.

Did you reinstall your motherboard drivers after you reinstalled your OS?

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, none of those helped. I have NO motherboard drivers. They were never provided.

Any more good ideas???

Download the defunct "Everest HE" and run it, it should tell you the motherboard/chipset details and you can then download the appropriate drivers for it.

I believe Tiny computers went belly up a while back so it may be a little tricky.
