XP crashes (BSOD) after install on Raid1

Specs: Windows XP
After installing windows xp pro sp2 on my raid1 (mirrored) drive it blue screens upon bootup.

Heres exactly what I did :

1.) I connected (ONLY!) my brand new two 1tb drives, turned on pc and went into bios and enabled my sata to be configured as RAID

2.) saved, rebooted and went into the raid configuration utility to setup raid1 between my two 1tb drives, and created the 1tb array

3.) saved, rebooted and booted up from XP disk into setup, pressed f6 to install raid drivers, gave it raid driver disk, selected my hard-disk from the list, created a partition and quick formatted it and it continued to install windows.

4.) it finished that part, rebooted and continued the setup from the windows enviroment. I put in license key, chose regional options etc, then it rebooted

5.) at this point it should boot into windows normally as it has finished installing.. however, for me it chose to give me a blue screen of death and auto reboot instead. This bsod happens about 3 seconds after seeing the windows xp logo on bootup.
If i choose boot in safe mode, it still reboots but only difference it doesn't show the bsod before rebooting.

I can't see any logical reason why this might be happening, they are brand new unformatted drives.

This only happens when I install xp on raid1. I have installed xp on this pc using normal sata configuration many times, no faults ever.

Does anybody have any suggestions?

I am using a quad core duo processor and 2gb dual-ddr2 ram on a Abit IP35 Pro XE board.

Mostin, strictly a SWAG, dunno for sure. My guess is that your problem traces back to the format. A quick format ONLY works on a previously formatted disc as it simply manipulates previously allocated areas.
I suspect you need to choose the long method (only needs to be done once).

rebuilt the array, did full format and got a bit further with this install. but crashed while copying files to disk, then bios tells me one of my disks was failling. Mystery solved, thanks for the help.
