XP controls my video memory settings

I increase the shared memory of my video card.Then boom it went blue. By the way my OS is XP. When I' set it back to my original config., my computer ran normally again. Does XP directly control the video memory setting of the computer.

NO it doesnt. More details please. PC Make, model etc. And where did you make the change, bios, ??
