Hi! guys,and gals.Im having a serious
problem trying to connect to the net via my
pc.Windows willl not let me connect for
some reason, and i know it is windows xp
becasue im able to get onto the net with a
linux live cd as i write, so i know
something is wrong with windows.
I have tried rebooting my modem that is
connected through my dlink router, but it
did not work.
I have clean my pc for spyware, and viruses
bugs,but my system is complelty clean,and i
cleaned out all my junk files, temp, cookies
ect.
I have tried repairing the internet
connection throught network connections,but
still nothing works.
I have tried to relase my ip,or ping, but it
did not work.
I have tried last known good
configuration,but nothing worked,
I have tried.system restore,but nothing
works.I hope you get the picture??It will
only work with linux live cd.??that is the
wierd thing.Can anyone help me?

i forgot to mention that i also tried
syncronization through internet options,and
my ie is also set at automatically detect
network settings, and i tried the automatic
script configuration,but still nothing
works.

try to find troubleshoot it one by one.
first, check your network card. is it properly defined ?....right click on my computer then click properties....then hardware....then click on device manager.
if you see a yellow question mark where your network adapter...then there is a problem with it...try to delete it and re install it again and try to connect.....if it doesnt work....then.....unplug the network card....see how the PC responds..if you realize any difference in the PC's performance with and without the network card...then the problem is likely to be in the network card itself.
i have experienced this and i bought a new one..and it worked.
also check the router's configurations.
so try do more troubleshooting.
hope this helps.
thanks

99-1 says your problem is a Winsock corruption.

Try this. It can't hurt and it can always help.
Anymore, when I see this problem, the second I see that the network card is working, I automatically proceed to fixing a corrupt Winsock.
Just bear in mind this fix needs a slightly different version for use with Win9x systems.
Let us know it works or not.
