Turned computer on and date set at Sep 21st 2000. HAve changed backto 2004, but is this likely to happen again, and what may have caused it??

The only thing that comes to mind is that your CMOS battery is dead or dying. It's a small round battery, like a watch battery, on your motherboard. It's easy to change if you're careful.

That would be a worry as we've only had the system new from Dell since July!
