Comment:

I had a catastrophic HD failiure recently and replaced the HD in my 2 HD system. I reinstalled Windows XP and somehow my C:/drive(0) became the system drive and my F:/drive(1) became the boot drive. Can anyone walk me through the process of making my C: drive both the system and boot drive? I have researched this online and cannot find a "simple" solution. Thanks.

Apparently, having never tried it myself, you can write a new boot sector in the Recovery Console (found by booting to your Xp cd). Once at the command line you can use the FIXBOOT command which will (in Microsoft's own words):

"write a new boot sector on the system partition."

Sounds easy enough to me :-)

There is an easy way to fix this! All you have to do is change a few drive letters, thats all! You can do all that and more, like formatting and partitioning HDD, in the Disk Management utility. It's under "Control Panel" -> "Administrative Tools" -> "Computer Management". When you click on Disk Management it shows all the drives on the right side. Then right click on the drive you want and select "Change drive letter and path".
