XP can't detect SATA hard drive

I just bought a new Hitachi Deskstar SATA 250GB hard drive (HDS722525VLSA80) and an Addonics SATA External Drive Enclosure - SATA to USB 2.0 (AE5SACSU2).

I have the hard drive installed on the enclosure and connected to computer USB port. However, my computer can't detect the sata hard drive.

So, do I need to install any driver for this hard drive in order for the computer to recognize it? What should I do now?

Did you not get a disk with the HD?
You most likely will need to install a driver for it.

We can fix this, but you're gonna need a butter knife, a roll of duct tape, and a car battery

did you format it?
if i am not mistaken, all you have to do is format it..no need for drivers if using it as a slave

Disk Management. Now the drive is working.
