XP Cannot detect onboard sound card

Got a new PC without the OS installed. When I installed XP it doesn't detect sound card. It's an on-board sound/video (MSI Intel 845 V+A+L 3 PCI M-ATX) and installs a generic driver for the video card. Video works but sound doesn't. How do I know what drivers to install for for the video and sound card?

dear sovtek try this link, http://www.msi.com.tw/program/support/driver/dvr/spt_dvr_list.php?part=1&kind=1&CHIP=1&COM=1 if this dose not help go to the main page and u should be able to find the exact drivers for it.
read, lern, and study before you overclock. if u dont know, then just ask please.. it could save you a few 100.00

try check on the bios to see if sound is enable. If it's enable and in Device Manager you don't see "pci device" or "audio device" your motherboard is possibly defect
