Keep getting blue screens since Friday. No hardware or software upgrades. Only thing I did that night was update my virus definitions. Next morning I awoke to a blue screen. Errors include page fault, corrupt system files, general system config error, acpi.sys corrupt. I have tried to enter into safe mode (BSOD), last known good config (BSOD), and even running XP cd to enter repair (BSOD after loading drivers from CD). I have been able to retrieve most of my important data by dropping the HDD into another XP box and copying files over. However, reformat is absolute last option. I have all of my FTP and mail server settings that I will lose, including mail. Many of these site settings would take several hours/days to duplicate (several passwords/usernames and DNS for FTP client)

Is there anyway to "repair" the corrupt files from another XP box while having it set as nonbootable slave drive? Can I just copy over another copy of certain system files?

Please help!

Lance

One option for u would be to make a note of the entire BSOD error message and copy it into google search box.

U will most likely find fellow sufferers with exactly the same error prob and a pos fix.

You could also try just deleting C:\Windows, leaving program files etc intact and trying a re-install.

Hope this helps

try this:

In the BIOS:
Advanced > Chip Configuration
- SDRAM Configuration > from By SPD to User Define
- SET SDRAM CAS Latency > from 2.5T to 2T. (apparently 2.5T is quite unstable...?)

Works fine for me after 6 months of search a solution, believe me, it`s the solution

( Sorry my english =) )
