Make sure hide system files it not check
under folder options.

I'll make it easy for you.

start --> run --> cmd

hit [enter]

type in a dos prompt

cd \
dir /ah

The cd \ will take you to root of c
the dir/ah will dir only the hidden files
and directories.

To edit the boot.ini file

attrib -r -s -h boot.ini
edit boot.ini
atrrib +r +s +h boot.ini

read only - system - hidden

Hope this works for you, it does for me.
