1. fixmbr in recovery console (fixes prob for a few days)
2. new install of xp (no change)
3. New hdd (fixed another prob with broken one works better:))
4. full scan of hdd restored 1 file (worked for a bit
5. changed graphics card and took out old modem as have cable netwoked
phew...
now i suspect it may be the memory but i dont have any old sd-ram to check it with is ther a program i can download to test memory?any other ideas would be alot of help

memtest86 is a good ramtester. a quick search on google will find it. You can also disable the automatic restart in XP so that you can see the error messages or look in controlpanel eventviewer for details.

Hi,
I think I am having the smae problem...I get the blue screen with an error then when I restart again, it gives me this error report: C:\WINDOWS\Minidump\Mini022504-01.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\BEN~1.BEN\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER1.tmp.dir02\sysdata.xmlI have a USB Speedtouch modem and that would sometimes startup automatically on restart which it is not meant to do..so reinstalled the new drivers...
Still no change....
Anyway, hope we can solve it :))

memory, memory, memory...
RAM, RAM, RAM...'nuff said.
get good quality memory for your system and get plenty of it! w/ xp, i would have no less than 384MB. for some reason that doesn't work, i would check for a bios update for your system board.

thanks alot guys as i suspected its the memorey what is the best quolity mem i can get (sd-ram) pricelist in £ stearling plz
