How does one go about changing the XP boot partition without third party apps ie. partition magic, etc, OR by installing XP on the partition you want to boot from and changing the boot.ini?
in other words, I want to change a boot parition to something OTHER than the one where X:\WINDOWS resides, WITHOUT having to resort to measures that take half an hour, 45 minutes, etc.
Something like the sys x: command in dos? Maybe i should try that ...

Summary: My computer worked fine,then yesterday XP would not boot.Did not find any Windows files...I booted up with a Windows98 boot disk.Then I could not find C: in DOS! I have two partitions on my harddrive....
Summary: To do that you will need something like partition manager. You cannot manipulate partitions with XP, just create them in unallocated space and delete them. Forget about DOS. Dos won't even read FAT3...
