Specs: Windows xp sp2
Blue screen error "Stop: C0000218 Rlegistry File Failure
systemRoot\system32\config\software or its log or alternate. It is corrupt, absent, or not writable. Registry cannot load the hive (file): Begining dump of physical memory."

HP Pavilion ze4904us

The above first appeared well after I'd successfully logged on and everything appeared to be working fine. Came back into room after laptop had initially gone to screensaver and saw creen save mode had become the blue screen w/above message. It's in a never ending loop from the blue error screen to the black apology open w/safe mode options, last successful etc (none of which break the loop or work). Inserting the first of the 2 Recovery CDs (xp/sp2 op systm - the 2nd is applctn and driver recovery) does nothing even when selecting to boot from CD. The loop simply repeats over and over and over. All articles I've found suggest either booting from recovery CD or downloading fix from internet - but if the CD isn't stopping the loop and the loop never allows for an internet access (only the 2 (3 if you count the inital Windows screen w/esc optn also not working which shows just before going to the blue screen followed by the apology screen) so no way to open a browser much less download from the web.....Please help - if anyone can....I'd happily wipe it clean and start from beginning if I could just break the loop cycles should that be an/the only option - thanks

If the option to boot using "last known working configuration" does not work, try this boot CD and do some registry scans and (hopeful) repairs. Since you seem to be able to access the net, make a boot CD from ultimatebootcd.com, and even ubcd4win.com as twoa re better than one. It boots using its own OS and tons of tools. See if you can boot with that method and do some hard drive and registry scans.

Unfortunately, none of the options including last known working config work - the CD is recognized only as far as to ask if I want to boot from it and when I take that option, it just thinks a little longer before repeating the same loop - I downloaded the fix from online (via another laptop) on a flash drive and attempted to load it to the laptop in question but it only seems to be usable if I can find a way to get through/out of the repeating loop and have an option to run it - but as long as the loop isn't breakable and the safe mode and last known options aren't doing it, and none of these load from options seem to apply - I'm stuck unless someone's familiar w/the loop issue or how to literally override the loop issue and wipe it clean entirely
