xp and usb2.0

OS: xp pro sp1
CPU/Ram: p4 2.8 512 ddr

usb 2.0 stopped working usb1.1 works the keyboard and modem work but the hub and external drives dont (both drives and hub work on my 2k machine) the machine has been running for 6 months with no problems
i have checked devise manager and the enhanced drivers are installed any ideas?

For starters, uninstall the enhanced drivers in device manager, reboot, let XP reinstall them.

That was one of the first things I tried. I've also reinstalled sp1 and found some updated usb drivers on microsofts site KB82260
Niether worked

oh I forgot to say when I do plug the drives or hub in they come up with devise unknown but the light on the hub indicates usb2 is present (I have tried bypassing hub with drives)

I am guessing you're using the USB 2.0 straight off the computer and not from a controller card. I don't like updating with MS drivers. I feel you're better off using drivers from the manufacturer. I guess your hub is USB 2.0, right? There is a site that deals with USB, and the guy is good, but can't remember the name. Try searching Google, and I'll look around. I'll post back if I find it.
