XP and Norton Scans

Specs: Windows XP
I'm having problems while scanning around the registry areas. The scan goes to 76 or 77% and stalls out. What can I do? I've tried Super anti-spyware and then back to another scan with Norton thru Comcast (free). My puter is slow and it takes 20-25 seconds just to pop open the internet.

What should I do? Re-install Norton? Thanks.

You're not going to find many of the helpers in these forum recomennding Norton, McAfee, or any of the "big name" anti-virus programs. There are just too many decent freebies available that aren't system resource hogs. Norton could very well be part of your problem.

Start by listing your system specs. If you have an old computer with too little RAM (less than 512MB), it's going to be sluggish, especially if you have a lot of garbage installed & don't practice regular routine maintenance.
