Help! I have found and loaded the drivers for my conexant v90 usb modem but I keep gettig the error 777: connection failed ... The modem works fine on Win98 which is on the same computer!!

I had the same problems with my modem when I upgraded to XP. You have to go buy a modem that is compatable with XP. It runs about $90. The box will tell if it's compatable.

Depends what modem you are running. If its a Motorola GM56 PCI or similar, you've had it as these have been discontinued and there is no XP compatible driver. With respect to the rest of the bunch, it's usually sufficient to install Win 2000 drivers, which you'l almost certainly find on the manufacturers web page.

Well, I've installed WinXP on my machine and I get an error 777. It doesn't give the dial tone. I've already loaded the driver for my conexant HCF PCI internal modem but I still have no conexion.
