Hi
Am using a hired laptop to carry out some important work. I have my own software on a 256mb USB card, which has financial transactions that require to remain private. Do I have a security issue here? can anyone using the laptop after me, recover information that I created on the Card with software that was operated via the card and not the C drive. The corporate view is that hiring the laptops is a better deal, and they have very special software that they don't wish to be transferred to other computers. Even though they are my main contract, I do have others and don't really want to lug around a second laptop...hence the USB Card
Grateful for any info???
Regards
Alex

Without knowing the exact program then you are at risk. We don't know about temp files and page files or other types of working folders/subdirectories. The flash drive is not sure either.

If you have info that you need to be protected then you must not let anyone have contact with the computer without a complete 9x rewrite over the hard drive. See if you can get a secure format and return the rented laptop without any programs. They may or may not like it but see your contract.

if its stored to the card and you dont save it to your computer, then you should be fine. As for the card, i believe you can lock it so if its lost or stolen, the stealers would need a password to get in.

It is the temp files and the storage of some parts of personal medical files. I may renew my PDA and keep the sensitive material on its own computer.
Thanks
