I have upraded from ME to XP HE. I have a Creatix HaM v90 modem and latest XP driver. I can connect to the internet through my ISP but no web pages are showing. The error message is "cannot find server or DNS error". It doesn't matter which website I go to. I've checked my settings against my Win 98 laptop settings but it doesn't make any difference. Any suggestions please?

If there is one thing that gets my goat it is someone who replies like "j". If you can't give the man an answer then don't post an idiot reply.

MikeC unhappily I can't help you. I did have a problem with XP not seeing my modem unles it was on when I booted up but I have rectified that.

Thanks Ewen. My modem is an internal model, originally it didn't recognise it but then I got the latest drivers it did but still no web browsing for me.

Sandy you have posted on the end of MikeC's post and it is unlikely that someone will see it. You should re-post your request using the fields at the bottom of the problem listings not the replies.

Did browser change from ME to XP (ie5 to ie6)
...I have observed some different ( usually better) behaviours with ie6. Post (I won't come back here :-} just passing) or e-mail settings for others to comment.
** Check to see that DNS is working. I just spent a week playing with winipcfg on my connections and noted that the DNS server binding that happens after connection is observable there. Also try in MS Dos window to do tracert www.google.com (say) to see if DNS look up occurs. ALSO, mess with the firewall and connection sharing settings under XP and go for no security to see if it works under those conditions.
