Hi,
Has anyone found a way of getting around the problem of XP spitting the dummy when changing computers.
Have now got two HDDs that had XP on them with other systems which locked up after putting into different computers and having XP reloaded (always fails). HDDs won't load 98 either (instal fails) - tried formatting etc.
Drives work perfect as a slave on another system - reformat OK, can even load XP & boot from slave - but put onto other case & dud!!
I realise XP writes a previous component list to the HDD and then spits when it is different but has anyone found a way to delete whatever is written ? Reformat over it ?? I seem to recall a /? dos command that would format over the registry partition (assuming that is where it is written) - any clues ??
I read that you have to get a reactivation key from microdoggie - but I can't even get the boot to run to the point of entering the key - dies after ananlysing the disk(s) with XP or after formatting them with 98.
