There is a free downloadable CD called ULTIMATE BOOT DISK.
On it are a lot of utilities to deal with booting problems... password problems are one of those utilities. It will search for and list passwords
(This and other programs are why I don't understand why people use passwords in the first place....They're easily defeated)

Losing a Windows XP password is surprisingly common! Here are Fred's suggestions about how to get back into your accounts and files.

Blackbill, I am with you!I never use them myself, and discourage my clients as well. But at least if you feel you have to, always use the same one for safety sake.

R U locked out of your user account that has Admin privilages or the hidden Admin account?.
If no password has been assigned to the hidden account you can enter safe mode and change you user account like so..Lost password , XP User Account with Admin or limited Privileges.
This procedure only works if you can enter safe mode thru the Admin Account
1-Boot to Safe Mode by tapping the F8 key while booting
2-Choose safe mode, Press Enter
3-Select operating system, Press Enter
4-Click Administrator Account
5-Windows is running in Safe Mode, Click YES
6-At the Safe Mode Desktop, click, Start, Control Panel
7-Double click User Accounts
8-Click Your account (or the account you are locked out of)
9-click, Remove Password
10-Click, Remove Password again
11-Close all Windows
12-Restart Computer
13-Back at the normal desktop re-enter the Control Panel
14-Open User Accounts, Open your Account.
15- Add a password, or not!!
16-Done...If you are locked out of safe mode then the EBCD is the best and easiest way to go.

sameer, this question has been asked hundreds of times on this website. Did you search for solutions before posting your question? I'm guessing not...

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.
