Hi, I have this very weird problem. I had a bad virus infection, which I managed to get rid of. However since then when I click on an .XLS file it opens Excel but does not open the file - not even a new blank worksheet! I have to click "open" and then select the file again. Has anyone ever come across this problem? Can you help me solve it please? Thanks

Hi I forgot to mention that I tried to solve this by uninstalling and reinstalling Excel, but it didn't work! So please any ideas?

Have you tried a repair of Excel?

Reinstall Office - also, try and upgrade to XP Prof, if possible.

You should probably rename your .xlt files before running that repair as well.

Launch Excel and go to Tools, Options. Click on the General tab and take the checkmark out of Ignore other applications.
