Wrong Partition Active! XP no Boot

I inadvertantly made a partition on my non-o/s secondary HDD "active" when I was trying to resize it. Now XP doesn't boot. I unplugged HDD#2 and ran fdisk to tried to make the o/s partition on HDD#1 active again. I was told no partition could be made active. The partiton was also listed as a non-dos partition. What should I do?

Make sure CD-ROM is before HDD in BIOS boot sequence then boot with WinXP CD. Press r for recovery console then fixmbr then fixboot.
Remove the CD and reboot.

I don't think fixboot or fixmbr will make the partition active , run diskpart (XP's -fdisk) from the recovery console.

If you used Disk Management to make a partition on the second hard drive Active then I don't think that is your problem because you can have two Active partitions as long as they are on separate hard drives as I do.
