when you burn with nero you need to ensure you're burning it in multisession mode.

Yes, I already use multisession, but I possibly miss something, because the dvd gets full anyway

In the Burn section, untick Finalize disk (No further writing possible!) and it should fix your problem in Nero.

XP has built-in burning capability. You don't need a third party program.

Jennifer - you're right but only for CD-RW. Windows Vista is the first one to burn to DVD-RWs.

amc - you should use Nero InCD feature. This will allow you to write incrementally to DVD-RWs

Here's the deal XPUser is right if you want the dvd-rw to act like a floppy where you can erase individual files or overwrite them. You need INCD or you could use roxio directcd these are packet writing programs. If you only need to keep adding files you can use nero. Then when it truly gets full you can erase the whole dvd-rw.

I say "when it truly gets full" because when you use nero or any other program to write on a dvd, windows explorer always says its full. Then you open nero and write to it again. That is if was burned in multi session as stated previously.

I would have to disagree on using INCD or any other software which converts a dvd/cd into a giant floppy.
I have had problems with disk wrote in this manner not being able to be read by other computers.
I would try it out first to see if other computers can read the disk before I put all my faith in this method. I would rather use multies session instead a safer method.

As for a good freeware program I use CDBurnerXp Pro, it is a freeware and has multiple session capability and much more.
I have used it for years with no problem of reading disks on other computers. It also gives you the ability to burn at least then max speed which insures a better burn.
