I saved some pictures off a website and I tried to re-save them using Windows Picture & Fax Viewer .jpg (they are .jpe), however, when I try to re-save them I get a message that they might to write-protected. How can I get around this?

Is the message about them being Write Protected or about them being Copyright material ?
If Write Protected then Right Click on your Pictures - Properties - see if it says Read Only - if so take the Check out - Apply\OK

Try using Irfanview for opening the pictures: http://www.irfanview.com/ Quite often, a different web browser will do a better job of saving pictures. Opera is my favorite: http://www.opera.com/
