I have a *.avi file which is 1hr 24 Mins long, which is a movie of my family outing. I wish to write into VCD so that i can watch in VCD player. Isn't it that I need to create 2 CDs? I am using nero 5. Can anyone knows how to burn a VCD using Nero?

Use tmpgenc to convert it to vcd mpg compliance. Nero takes considerably longer to convert, compared to tmgenc. Then burn as a vcd in nero. With a few careful edits, you will not need to span it over 2 disc since you can burn about 80 minutes on a single disc. Just edit out 4 minutes.

dwardy is right on that except that you will need a lot of hdd space in order to burn with losing only 4 min. You need about 6gigs for every 25 min of burn or you will have to burn it in diferent times and you will lose more footage to the lead in, which means you can't burn a complete 80 min. you will lose an additional 20 sec on each burn that you do after the first one Or you can use a good editing program and shorten your footage in long scenes without loss of integrity to the movie. Hope this helps,

You can actually create an avs script (http://www.avisynth.org/) that includes all the edits without having to write anything at all to the hard drive. (assuming you already have the avi file on your drive) Then you can plug that into tmpgenc (frame serve) and encode directly, as one file.
