Writable CD folder error on 3 different sys.

January 6, 2011 at 20:10:46
Specs: Windows XP Home SP3
Whenever I insert a blank cd in my drive and open a writeable cd folder and i drag files to it I get a continous non-specific error message and cannot burn files to discs.
The error says "windows encountered a problem when trying to copy this file. What would you like windows to do? (retry, skip, cancel).
These are the same files I have burned dozens of times before and it is also happening with ANY files I try to put on disc.
I have checked for windows updates, the disc drive is fine and will play any audio or video discs i put in it. The computer sees and recognizes the drive with no problem.
The disc is not seen by windows media player when I try to use it to burn either but will play any disc just fine.
The extremely odd thing is the EXACT same thing is happening on 2 of my PC's and 1 laptop that are all running XP.
The blank discs in question burn fine on another system that is using Vista using the same files.
Is anyone else having this problem and has anyone found a solution? I could see a hardware or software problem as the cause but not on 3 computers simultaneously..

Try this -> http://support.microsoft.com/mats/c...

It's a diagnostic tool that Automatically diagnose and repair problems with your CD or DVD drive when trying to read or burn media.

If that doesn't work, try 3rd tool like the one john suggested - BurnAware
