Can't load Windows XP SP 1 because of this error. Found the fix on
Microsoft's knowledge base but the fix did not work. This occured after I
uninstalled Norton System work of my PC.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;Q310794

I do not have the two keys listed to delete and I didn't need to change the
drive path since the keys were still referring to the drive that contains
windows. I'm at a lost. Any suggestions other than reinstalling. I did not
back up my registry.

I also googled and found no references to my situation as well. Currently -
I am unable to access Windows. Windows would load the logon prompt, however,
if I attempted to logon to windows, the error message would appear and
windows returns me to the logon prompt

You mentioned having uninstalled Norton Systemworks. Go to the Symantec Website and get symclean to remove all of systemworks from your system. With any kind of luck this might correct the problem. If not try reinstalling systemworks. All the best!

Tried Symclean. It says nothing else needs to be removed. I could only access windows in safe mode; I can't intall systemworkss back into windows in safe mode.
