It is possible yes, but unlikely. Have you tried a factory-grade wiper? by that i mean an application that will TOTALLY delete all files EVER stored on yur drive? these little beauties restore your hard drive back to how it was when it rolled off the production line. Names escape me, but i've seen other posts about them..............

Search google for the fault message. I found 6 references. They seem to imply a memory problem. Good luck.

On further research it could also mean a dying HD.

ive got xp running now, it is kinda unstable tho, a few randomn restarts, comes up with different error messages, but all related to hardware and software changes.

ive looked at the conflicts and there is as follows:

I/O port - pci bus and the direct memory access controller are sharing the same one

IRQ10 - microsoft acpi compliant system and the intel ac97 audio controller are both sharing IRQ10

Memory address - PCI bus and the onboard intel810 graphics controller are sharing the same memory address

Dont know if this has anything to do with it, any ideas?

gabep, the computer came with 64mb ram, i upgraded it to 128mb, which i left in during the installation, could it be that i shud leave the 64mb in there while installing xp home and then add the rest after xp is installed? or it could be the graphics card sharing the same memory address with the PCI bus.

try removing the new stick. If all is well then you have a bad memory stick. Try swapping the memory to troubleshoot.Good luck

This is not an answer to the question but by any chance are you a female Hooner?
Nothing against the fair sex at all but some times Hooner you give a responce without an answer, you must be more succinctive

Well given the subject line, and the vague errors and issues posted by the poster, it's a little difficult to be succinct.

My only suggestion, which is really succinct....replace your hard drive.
