WordPad wonīt save as *.doc

Comment:
My WordPad can open several file types, including *.doc, but after Iīve edited a MS Word document and I want to save my work, the only file type options for saving are RTF, Text, MS-DOS Text and Unicode.
However, itīs possible to save as a *.doc-file if I type "filename.doc" within quotation marks, but *.doc is not an option in the dropdown menu.

That's correct. .doc is not an option in my dropdown menu either. Probably just an intentional MS thing to try to get you to purchase Word. ;)

Ok, so this is the way it was intended to be by M$? Well, I have Word too, but like WordPad better for pure writing purposes and I think itīs plain stupid that WordPad doesnīt have save as *.doc in the drop down-menus.
Is there any registry hack or such to get around this? You obviously can save files as .doc, but not the easy way.

Yeah...I know the feeling. Unfortunately, something like that I believe would be hard-coded into the actual code itself. I can't imagine a registry hack would be able to fix that. I did a couple searches and couldn't find anything. =(
