|Chances are that it is your Anti Virus program. This is why other sites have you delete the Normal.dot template because this is where macro viruses are setup and by getting rid of this file you get past the problem in the anti-virus.|
It could be an add in like WinFax, Adobe Acrobat or any type of program that would run when your Word starts. Check out this posting and see if it doesn't help.
Read them all because all the posters have different programs that was causing the problem.
Another possible solution is to do a Windows Update which may download a service pack for Office but being that Office 2000 is no longer supported by Microsoft there may not be one.
