I NEED TO RECOVER AN OVERWRITTEN WORDPERFEECT FILE. I have a small home network with a few computers. Each computer can save to its own drive as well as to a shared drive on the home network. I mistakenly saved an older version of the document I need to retrieve to the shared drive which overwrote the most recent version. How can I recover the overwritten Word Perfect file which is only on the shared drive?

I am working with Windows XP two computers and windows 7 on my laptop. The file I was working with was from an XP desktop saving to the shared network drive. The file was then overwritten with a previous version of the same file from my windows 7 laptop. This caused me to lose hours of work. Can anyone help??

Chances are very slim that you recover anything. A small chance does exist.
You may end up spending more time recovering or attempting to recover, than to redo the work. Keep that in mind.
In the wordperfect (WP) working directory should be the temporary storage for the file - auto save function. The file is probably deleted so you'll need an application like recuva.
When you install anything after a delete, you risk writing over the top of any file that has been deleted. The chance gets smaller.
Point the application to the WP temporary folder. See what it finds. The names are not going to match so you have to recover all to a folder and open each. WP uses arbitrary naming for temp saved files. Also look in the directory where the file is stored.
Maybe you'll get lucky.
