Subject: Word error when copying in OutlookOS: XPCPU/Ram: Pentium 2Gig 512MbModel/Manufacturer: Dell |
Comment: Hi all, I am using my work laptop, and Word is the mail editor in my Outlook 2003. When I create an email, type text, and then select a word, right-click and select "copy", I ALWAYS get the following Word Error message: "An error occurred while trying to retrieve information from another program. Try working with your message again". I then hit "OK" twice and I can paste the text if I want to. This error does not occur within Word itself, only in Outlook. I do not get the error if Word is not the email editor. I have googled this problem and only found two pages that did not give me any solution. Can someone help please? Thank you in advance! D.

Reply: (edit)Questions like these should really be posted in the Office Software Forum, but, since you're here... Either run a repair of Office or do not use Word as your email editor. I recommend the latter. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for the answer, but if I do not use Word as an email editor, I won't get the nice automatic spell check that I use a lot... I'll try the outlook repair, but any other idea?

Reply: (edit)I don't know how your Outlook is setup, but you can grammar and spell check while composing messages, and you can set the spell check to run when you click "Send." Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)Thank you for your answer(s), unfortunately I am not trying to find a "work around" (i.e. what you are proposing) to my problem, but a proper fix. Does anyone know of a fix that could allow me to use word along with outlook? Thanks in advance.

Reply: (edit)"I won't get the nice automatic spell check that I use a lot.." The "Fix" not "Workaround" would be to configure Outlook properly so that you do get that nice automatic spell check. Life's more painless for the brainless.

Reply: (edit)But I want to use the Word spell check, not the Outlook one. Also the formatting would be different. What would be the use of using Word as an email editor then? I mean the error message must be coming from something, right? If I get an annoying error message using Firefox, I wouldn't want to just uninstall Firefox and start using IE, I would want to FIX this recurring error message. That's why I am asking for a FIX, not a workaround.
