Hello Everyone!
In short, we have a fleet of about 50 workstations here. 43 are Win9x with Office 97 and the other 7 are WinXP Pro with Word 2000 intertwined with Office XP Pro. Our users are experiencing a wide array of weird error messages. What it comes down to is that the files are opening up as Read-Only on the server and not allowing the user to edit them. What's happening is that when a user Opens a word doc, whether they make changes or not it leaves behind a "User temp file" with the ~$ preceding the file name, out on the server. The temp file cannot be deleted until it's closed on the server or the workstation is rebooted. It seems that the XP workstations are opening the documents as read-only much more than the 9x workstations. File/domain server is Win2k SP3 Workstations are XP SP1 Office2k SP3 Office XP SP2
