word 2000 and outlook 2002

I am having problems sending emails from Word 2000. I am using Outlook 2002 as my browser. When I try and send an email from Word 2000 I get the following error message "Word could not load the email envelope". Also when I go into Outlook 2002 then Options then Mail Format i find that "use microsoft word to edit email messages" is greyed out. Is this problem because Word 2000 and Outlook 2002 are not compatible? Is there any way to fix without buying Word 2002?

How did you get a mix of Office2000 and Office XP on the same PC? I would say that that is the problem. The common .dlls that link the various parts of office are desinged to work with a particular release of Office. In installing Outlook XP I suspect that the OLE and/or MAPI interface is screwed up.

Word 2000 came with my computer when I bought it from Dell and Outlook 2002 came with my Ipaq PDA so it could synchronise with my computer. So how can I fix this?
