wont shut down sometimes

sometimes when i click on shutdown it acts like im clicking on restart. it doesnt do it all the time but i would say 30% of the time. any idea why my comp would do this and how do you solve this problem? thanx for your time.

Some things to try are ...
Go to windows/prefetch and edit/select all/ delete...... this will rebuild next time you boot.
Update as many drivers as you can.
If the problem is still there go to your system tray and right click and turn programs off and see if it helps troubleshoot a program not wanting to close.

Most problems will be solved by right clicking on My Computer, clicking properties, Advanced tab, Settings under Startup and Recovery, then unchecking every box under System Failure, and changing the first drop down box under “Write debugging information” to none.
