I have a compaq presario 2100 that just quit. When I turn it on all the lights come on and stay on, but nothing on the screen. I've tried with battery only, plugging it into AC, replaced HD and always the same thing. Any ideas on what else I could try? All help is GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks.

Presumably this is a laptop (you mention a battery). I have an Acer that occasionally does the same... My currrent solution is to hold the on/off button a shade longer than just a "prod it"... and then it does boot OK... Possibly your Compaq will respond likewise?
I have seen a suggestion for similar problems that incude a possible drive failure on the cards... With that in mind..., and if you can get it to boot OK; enusre you have all data/files whatever copied onto other media (DVD/CD etc.); that those copies are truly accessible/readable - and keep them as current as possibl;e. That way if the drive is going down... you still have the copies for later...
Also run a checkdisk/scandisk routine.; and perhaps the tuils from the drive manufacturer to check the drive fully.
Faiing the above... transfer/slave the drive (via an adapter) to a standard PC; copy off all files etc... Then consider other options?
Those options being in no particular order: a repair of the OS; a new/replacement drive.
Also is HP/Compaq suppport any help here?

trvlr; yes it is a laptop. Will try your suggestion and see where I get with it. No help from HP/Compaq support, they keep telling me to type a bunch of crap on the keyboard, does no good if the darn thing won't boot up but just can't seem to get that through their heads.
clacker; Thanks for the info on the mobo, will check that out if the previous don't work.
