won't boot- corrupt system file

Toshiba Mini nb205-n210 netbook
January 1, 2010 at 17:25:07
Specs: Windows XP
Netbook was working fine. Now, for no apparent reason will not boot. Open the lid and turn it on - just a blank screen for 5-8 minutes then comes back with message that cannot find or a corrupt 'system' file prevents it from booting.

Netbook comes with no CD drive or recovery disks so cannot restore OS.

Can I create a bootable recovery with a flash drive? IF so where would I get a copy of the recovery files?
And how do I create a recovery flash drive?

You could try the following:

Remove all power (Main large battery and Power cord)
Hold the ON button in for 20 secs (dispersing internal voltage)
Put the main power cord back in (leaving the battery out)
Turn on.

If it works you can just shutdown normally and refit the battery

Note: Computers must be sold with the Windows media legally
But this "media" may be a hidden partition on your drive
The Restore Partition is accessed by pressing a specific Fn Key as displayed when you first turn on your computer
Or you can purchase a Recovery disc from your computer manufacturer support site
